Dr Madge Dresser is Associate Professor in Social and Cultural British History at the University of the West of England. Dr Dresser moved to Bristol in 1970; she is originally from Los Angeles. Her work includes research on the history of slavery, questions of national identity, women's history, and the position of religious and ethnic minorites in British society. Dr Dresser is a member of the Bristol and West Progressive Synagogue. In this interview she discusses her own history, and the history of the Jewish community in Bristol and the UK.
