Of the many local shops that once lined the streets of Greenbank, the Spar shop is one of the oldest remaining stores. Pictures from the early twentieth century show it as "Lusty's Corner Shop", later it passed through several other owners until Jeff Turpin bought the shop in 1965. He and his family have been running the business since. In the 1970s, the shop became a Spar. Listen to Jeff's recollections of how the shop itself has changed in those fifty years and how it has always played an important role for the local community.
