John Quick, actor, combined his performances with visits to Hotwells for his health. He married a Bristol girl, daughter of a clergyman named Parker, with whom he bought a house on College Green. He was a shareholder in the Theatre Royal. No comedian of his time excelled Quick, who played on the Bristol stage many times. He was the favourite actor of George III, who continually insisted on his appearance, and is said more than once to have addressed him personally.
