Video 44659/Br/1/I193. 'Down Our Way - 3' (recorded and transmitted 12/03/75) shows Pat talking to Fred about the Picture House Cinema, later a bingo hall called 'The Broadway' on Filwood Broadway.

The cinema opened on 20 October 1938, seated 1,160 people and was built by local firm R J Hurford; Dennis Hurford and Roy Chamberlain acted as architects. The cinema was also used for bingo, boxing matches and as a concert venue where P J Proby performed in July 1964.

The video includes the memory that Saturday morning was a children's film club. The 'Filwood Broadway' still exists but only as an empty and boarded-up building -- it was sold in the late 1980s and closed soon after.

The nearby Filwood Social Centre/Community Centre features in many of the Knowle West TV videos from the 1970s.
